Peace loving, democratic forces across the world are reverberating support to Palestine

Palestine-Israel :
American imperialists have been plotting to religiously split Palestine prior to 1948. In 1948, the United States proposed and approved a resolution at the United Nations declaring 55 percent of the territory to Israel. The city of Jerusalem was granted special status. Palestine was confined to the Gaza and West Bank territories and walled off to separate the Palestinian people from the outside world.

In 1967 the Golan Heights, the important land of agriculture, was occupied by a six-day war. After the war, Israel became the favorite child of America. But the Palestinian people did not succumb to the imperialist conspiracies. Muslim, Jewish, Christian, and all sorts of religious sectarianism have degraded the self-esteem of the Palestinian people. American imperialism hasn’t clogged there, branded people of Palestine as Muslim terrorists, constantly attacking and terrorizing them. As per Israel’s usual game, on the 12th of this month it bombed the Muslim Brotherhood during the Ramajan celebrations in the Gaza Strip. The pro-American and pro-corporate media in some European countries sang the same old song, calling them Muslim terrorists.

Israel deployed troops along the West Bank border, killing more than two hundred adults and children. It demolished Palestinian offices and hospitals located in high-rise buildings. It attacked the Gaza Strip and attempted to kill more than two lakh Palestinians. The U.S., which supplies bombs and warplanes to Israel, has been obstructing peace between Palestine and Israel.

Peace loving democratic forces around the world condemned and despised this escalation. They extended their support to Palestinian people. The intellectuals of India responded with utmost responsibility. The Indonesian communists, leftists and other democratic organizations reacted very strongly. Similar responses also seen in Arab countries. Democratic forces in Israel have condemned Israeli actions.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan :
The United Nations Security Council met on Sunday, May 16th. Al Jazeera media house wrote that UN could not reach a consensus to cease the violence. China, however, has criticized the Security Council for stalling peace negotiations at every stage. It is reported that Foreign ministers of Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Egypt expressed their dissent to the US Secretary of State. Turkish President Erdogan has strongly condemned the Israeli aggression.

He said , “As long as the people of the world and the nations across the world do not show strong solidarity with the Palestinian cause, the aggression of Israel won’t stop and will continue, impose restrictions on Israel and punish it,”. Human rights groups along with Amnesty International appealed to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate Israel’s attack on high rise towers in the Palestinian territory which constitute Al Jazeera and the Associated Press office. He said this is the culmination of Israel’s brutal attack on journalism. He said Israel’s dreams of not presenting the facts to the people of the world with these attacks would not come true. Israel is attacking and targeting refugee camps and power plants of Palestine.

Palestine prime minister :
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh has called on the world to just not give statements but to take action against Israel. The Prime Minister called on the United Nations to declare Israel’s escalation and attacks on Palestine illegal. The prime minister demanded that the United States immediately suspend the foreign aid to Israel and demanded that the ambassadors of the countries to Israel be withdrawn and terminate trade relations. He called on the world to condemn the human rights abuse and to condemn Israel’s inhumane treatment depriving the innocent children of their glorious future. He called for the immediate revocation of the American renewal license granted to Israel for killing Palestinians. The U.S. has relocated its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem amid criticism of Israel’s permanent structures in the West Bank and Gaza Strip to legalize the occupation of Golan Heights. US stopped funds for education and medical care for Palestine. At the same time, Israel continues to receive $ 300 billion a year in funding from US. The U.S. has been using Israel and creating civil wars and combats in the Middle East and maintaining its authority over crude oil, established a naval base in Bahrain, waging wars on Yemen, Iran and Syria for transportation of crude oil in the Suez Gulf Sea. He appealed to the nations across the world to unleash Israeli aggression, which has so far occupied at least 90 percent of Palestinian territory with the backing of imperialist America and caused deaths of millions of Palestinians and displacement of tens of millions of Palestinians.

In front of the US embassy in Indonesia :
Pro-Palestinian protesters protest in front of the U.S. embassy in the Indonesian capital, demanding an end to Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip. Hundreds of Indonesians carried Indonesian and Palestinian flags and marched on main streets in Jakarta under the slogan “Palestinian Freedom” as more than 1,000 police tried to stop the protest. Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim majority country, has no official diplomatic relations with Israel and does not even have an Israeli embassy. The protest was led by the United Indonesia, Muslim student action group, chanting “Freedom for Palestine”. Placards were carried in protest of the airstrikes in Gaza. They condemned US support for Israel. Another group organized by the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions held a rally a few hundred meters from the US embassy. They chanted slogans “Save the Palestinians”. Muslim-majority countries in Southeast Asia have called for an urgent meeting to ensure the safety and security of their citizens. The airstrikes killed at least 212 Palestinians in a week. Of these, 61 were children and 36 were women. More than 1,400 people were injured, the Gaza health ministry said.

Indian intellectuals’ statement :
The statement of eleven intellectuals collective who aspire harmony, aspire a democratic system in the country and who are striving for human values is welcome.

    1) Aijaz Ahmed, 2) Arundhati Roy, 3) GithaHariharan, 4) Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami, 5) Naseeruddin Shah, 6) Nayantara Sehgal, 7) Prabhat Patnaik 8) Ratnapathak 9) Subhashini Ali, 10) Sudhanve Deshpande, 11) Vijaya Prasad, Scholars from various fields extended their solidarity and said “We stand with Palestine”

“Palestinians in Gaza fired rockets at Israel. The rockets did not start or define the brutality that followed. The rockets came as part of a resistance — backed by international law — of an illegal occupation”. The collective emphasized they stand with the Palestinians, stand with the right to a homeland, their right to return to their home, and their right to resist the occupation.

General Strike in Palestine - Global Workers’ Solidarity :
Palestinian women chanted slogans against Israel in the West Bank city of Ramallah; Ten thousand have joined the strike in protest of the bombing of Gaza. The trade unions, the postal union, and the global trade union took part in anti-Israel demonstrations. Decades later, Palestinians living in Israel opened up against Israel aggression, supporting the decision to impose restrictions and punish the Israeli government.

    Many countries and people across nations have expressed Palestinian resistance as just in the face of Israel’s inhumane war on Palestine;

On May 10 solidarity protest and rally was organized in New York City. Declarations and mobilisations carried out by organisations from Ireland to Iraq in support of Palestine. They declared that the demonstrations would continue until Saturday, when Palestinians commemorate Naqba (Catastrophe) Day.

Normalcy between Palestine and Israel :
Many countries in the Arab-Maghreb region, Morocco, UAE, Bahrain and Sudan, want to exchange normalcy in financial issues. Efforts were made to achieve this through aggressive American lobbying. These efforts hampered the strengthening of US-Israeli ties. Recently a number of organizations have staged demonstrations condemning the Zionist criminal actions of Israel and were in support of the Palestinian people in the region. These protests have been very influential. On May 11, the Left parties made an important statement.

In the statement, they expressed their support to the Palestinian people and condemned the US Zionist “deal of the century” which has attempted to advance the full occupation of Jerusalem with support of many Arab countries.

They call on to support the legitimate resistance of the Palestinian people and reject Zionist policies of “ethnic cleansing, home demolitions, land theft and sacrilege.” They also call on to confront the recent shifts of normalisation and complicity of the Arab reactionary governments and their interference in Palestinian affairs in favor of the occupation.”

In addition to this statement, many organizations took to the streets to show their support.

Demonstrations took place in Moroccan cities (Casablanca, Rabat, Tangiers) in defiance of the reactionary government.

In Tunisia, the Workers’ Party, along with other progressive forces, condemned Israel and staged demonstrations in support of Palestine.

In Kuwait, people and progressive forces came on to the streets. In Sudan, people protested in solidarity to Palestine.

Latin American peoples movements, organisations and revolutionary governments condemned the attacks
The Landless Rural Workers’ Movement (MST) of Brazil released a statement on May 11th wherein they pointed out that “It is not a war, as there is only one army, that of Israel! It is a massacre, which has been perpetrated against the Palestinian people for more than 70 years!” The movement called for an end to “Israel’s extermination policy” and demanded that Israel be tried for crimes against humanity. The MST express solidarity “with the Palestinian People’s struggle for a Free Palestine, with Jerusalem as its capital!”

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez has strongly condemned Israel for its indiscriminate bombings on the Palestinian people. He condemned the permanent support of US in these crimes. The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry reiterated that they stand with the Palestinian people for their sovereignty, independence and self-determination. Following the cruel attacks by Israel demanded an end to this new isolation and new phase of Zionist violence on Palestinian people.

Socialist Cuba and Venezuela have provided concrete support to the Palestinian cause and people, opening their doors to hundreds of Palestinian students so that they can train in medicine and return to the region to help serve the people.

The Dwellers Movement of South Africa in Africa said, “The blood of the Palestinians is our blood, and their pain is our pain. We have experience of colonial dispossession and oppression – and of apartheid and understand the suffering and struggle of the Palestinian people. Our past makes us understand our present as a teacher”. The Socialist Revolutionary Workers Party and the Communist Party of Kenya expressed their solidarity. Protests were held in Johannesburg in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Demonstrations in solidarity with the Palestinians in the United States show that despite American politicians’ support for Israel’s atrocities, this will not last long. Massive protests took place on May 11th in several American cities, including New York, Washington DC, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Significant News organizations have strongly criticized the United States for not only providing billions of dollars in military aid to Israel, but also its unwavering political support and continuing pro-Israel atrocities against the Palestinians.

Organizations such as the European Left Party, Ireland’s Sinn Fein and Progressive Movements have condemned Israel’s attacks on the Palestinian people in Gaza across Europe.

Port workers in Livorno, Italy, refused to ship cargo to Israel on ships which they thought could be carrying weapons.

Solidarity from Sports Persons :
Sports persons from Italy, Germany and players from Ireland, players from soccer fields Pogba, his teammates and Bangladeshi cricketer Mustafizur and others have all extended their support and appealed for solidarity for Palestine.

From Class Struggle

Condemn the cruel role of American Imperialists in the Israeli bombings on people of Palestine!

Israel has forcibly evicted Palestinian families from the Sheikh Jarrah area of Jerusalem. The Israeli government continues to carry out such illegal activities. These are the settlements established by the Palestinians when Israel evicted the Palestinians earlier. It is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territory, as the United Nations named it. The Israelis, with the support of American Imperialists, are driving the Palestinians out with racial mania. The Palestinians are on the verge of resisting this eviction. Israel, which cannot tolerate this resistance of the Palestinians, is subjecting Palestinians to brutal violence by its border police. These police forces have stormed the ‘Al-Aqsa’ mosque in East Jerusalem and carried out violence and coercion.

In response to these actions of Israel, the Palestinians in Gaza (Occupied Palestinian Territory-OPT) have warned Israel that they will have to face rocket attacks. The Palestinians fired rockets at Israel for not heeding this warning. The Palestinians are resisting Israel, which is carrying out intense bombings, damaging the self-esteem of Palestinians and destroying their homes. It is a just resistance, supported by the Pacifists, the Anti-Imperialists, declaring solidarity with them. All democratic, peace loving, and anti-imperialist forces are supporting their struggle to return to the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories in defense of their homeland.

On 16th May, the Security Council has proposed a resolution for restoration of peace and stop armed conflicts. The meeting was chaired by China. The United States blocked that resolution with its Veto power. Naturally the Israeli defense minister thanked his Boss, America for hindering the resolution. Israel did not stop there. They demolished office which looks after the concerns of Palestine prisoners near Al Katiba Square in Gaza, killing more than 200 people and children, seriously injuring 1400 people. It has forced 40,000 people to flee their homes. They destroyed Palestinian Covid Laboratory. US President and the US External Affairs Minister deceitfully said the ceasefire can be worked out. Without preventing the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, the United States is giving approval to Israel by supplying warplanes and inciting Israel to escalate on Palestine.

Three times in the Security Council, America blocked the signing of the peace agreement. The Palestinian people are resisting the US imperialists’ attempt to subjugate Palestine. Although some Arab countries are sympathetic to Palestine, they are not in a position to use their arm power to restrain Israel. Yet the Palestinian people are working to counter America-backed Israeli bombings and destruction.

The Biden administration decided to send $ 735 million precision guided weapon on May 5, just a few days before the air strikes started. This shows Zionist face of USA. With this weapons Israel targeted and attacked a media hub, in which the offices of Aljajeera and Associated Press were demolished.

The Palestinian people have not stopped or left fighting, despite decades of relentless Israeli provocation and aggression. The Palestinians had to be prepared for counter attack with rocket-propelled grenades to stop the deadly Israel bombings. The people of the world are watching as to who is the aggressor, who is threatening the freedom, liberty and self-respect of another. They decided to be sympathetic, supportive and extending solidarity with Palestine.

From Italian ports to Streets Munich in Germany and Ireland, from sports persons like Pogba and his playing-mate in the soccer fields and Bangladeshi cricketers like Mustafijur Rahaman have stood by the side of the Palestinians.

The forces opposing the aggression of American Superpower will definitely be strengthened.

The CPI (ML) feels it as its international duty to stand up in firm solidarity with the Palestinian people also to forge unity of the working class to the working class to fight out the international conspiracy against the just rights of the Palestinian people.

Present day crisis created by govt’s failure to tackle Corona menace

The entire country is devastated due to govt’s failure to anticipate and take Remedial measures to tackle 2nd wave of Covid19 pandemic. More than lakh people have died, many millions are infected, and there are not required no. of hospital beds, oxygen, ventilators, PPE kits, medicines, etc. People are running from pillars to post for saving their lives from the deadly disease. Black-marketing of oxygen and medicines are rampant. In Delhi, oxygen cylinders are reported to have been sold at lakh rupees. Ambulances are charging huge money as per the situation. Private hospitals have been charging lakhs of rupees from the patents/attendants. But millions are forced to tackle the problem themselves in their residents. In villages there is hardly any qualified medical facilities forcing people to depend on quacks. In such a situation holding of Kumbh mela in Haridwar and holding 8 phase Election in Bengal wrecked havoc. Hundreds of dead bodies have been found in rivers Ganga and Yamuna. Large no. of dead bodies have been buried in sand at river beds.

The govt. is suffering from policy paralysis. Modi Govt. allowed export of millions of doses of vaccines to foreign countries. It has resulted in shortage of vaccines in our country. The Union Govt. had forbidden import of vaccines from abroad. All this has resulted in the present helpless situation in the country.

Large no. of people have lost their jobs. No monetary support has been provided to them. Common people are facing great economic and financial crisis. The govt. has turned a blind eye to them.

This has shown clearly that Modi led govt. at the centre is thoroughly incompetent and pro rich. The govt has handed over national assets like banks, railways, airports, mines, etc to private business houses.

This crisis has also exposed the hollowness of much touted Ayushman Yojana of Mr.Modi. Only 12 crore rupees have been spent from this scheme till now. Private hospitals are looting and fleecing people mercilessly.

The Covid-19 crisis has shown clearly that privatisation and commercialisation of health care services are totally failure and anti-people for a country like India. So, health care responsibility should be of the state, not private not private blood suckers.

In such a situation our party CPI (ML) demands:-

  1. The govt should make adequate arrangement for treatment of all Covid patients.
  2. Govt. should arrange free vaccination to all.
  3. Govt. should make suitable planning for construction of hospitals at all levels so that health care facilities may be available to everyone in the country.
  4. Arrange sufficient oxygen, ventilators, medicines and beds available to all needy persons.
  5. Take all private hospitals in govt’s hands and make arrangement for people’s treatment affordable.
  6. Provide all poor families Rs.10000 and start community kitchen to provide the needy persons free meals.

The Five State Assembly Elections could be a check on the BJP's authoritarian fascist tendencies

The Assembly elections in five states -Kerala, TamilNadu, Bengal, Assam and Puducherry reflect the power scuffle between the ruling parties. After the BJP came to power for the second time in the Center, the voters in all the three states repelled its Hindutva agenda, maniacal slogans of One Country, One Religion, One Language. It is like a tight slap on BJP which brought in authoritarian and fascist methods to the forefront to serve the compradors - corporates and be a crusader to their imperialist policies. The results of the Assembly elections will surely be a check on the conspiracies of the BJP, which has trampled on all democratic values, to overthrow non-BJP Governments in other states and the dominant politics and fanatical sectarianism that undermines the sentiments of the people of non-Hindu religions.

The agitations taking place on the borders of Delhi and else where against the anti-democratic, anti-labour, anti-agrarian laws passed in Parliament disregarding the parliamentary democracy that exists to some extent and the working class and the middle class movement against the arrogant move to privatize the steel industry have already become a check. The results of this election could become a major check.

Fascist tendencies are invalidated and it is not possible for any party in India which would be instrument to the imperialists and wants to impose fascism on Indian people. Voters in Bengal, Kerala and TamilNadu are to be applauded for defying sectarianism and striving for religious harmony. In the same context, the people of Bengal must not ignore the Trinamool dictatorship that has come to power. The people who repelled the bigger danger will push back the local danger and uphold secular and democratic values. The day is not too far when people of all linguistics and ethnicity look towards Bengal.

After Jayalalitha's death in TamilNadu, the Tamil people have been watching the conspiracy by BJP to overthrow the AIDMK and gain a foothold in Tamil politics by intercepting the governor. This verdict of the Assembly elections is giving hope that the people of Tamilnadu will not let go of their secular and rational ideology. However, the Tamil people need to be vigilant that the DMK does not succumb to the Indian comprador bourgeoisie and imperialist policies.

Even though it is the custom of the people of Kerala not to elect those who ruled in the previous term for another term, voters must be reacting to the failures of the previous administration. Every one recognizes the fact that the actions taken by the government in the worst scenario caused by the floods and during Covid-19 have satisfied the people. However, the comrades sitting with in the framework of the bourgeoisie cannot oppose the policies of the bourgeoisie and Imperialism. The people of Kerala are cognizant of the fact that Revolutionaries outside the framework can only oust the bourgeoisie and Imperialism someday.

In Puducherry, Kiran Bedi being the Lieutenant Governor and BJP activist has fulfilled the plan of BJP temporarily and ruck us already began as to who should be the Head. But BJP’s conspiracies in Puducherry will not last long. It is clear by the BJP alliance that the Congress candidates have won the most seats.

Even in Assam, there are rumours that collision started on which party leader in the NDA will be the chief minister for the new government.

On the whole, the people of Bengal, TamilNadu and Kerala have given a decent majority that BJP will not be able to overthrow the State Assemblies by buying MLAs. But by creating some disturbances the BJP at the Center may not allow these governments to run smoothly. The BJP was born with Mania. To counter this Mania, these governments need to embrace and accept small, large political parties and revolutionary forces working with pro-people, secular and democratic policies for social change. These three governments should show the maturity shown by the Muslim minorities, regional and linguistic minorities and the Dalits in the states of Bengal, Kerala and TamilNadu.

In any case, the onus is more on the Revolutionary Party to work resolutely and constructively for new democracy, socialism and for hegemony of proletariat.

My Revolutionary Tributes to Comrade Madhu

Comrade Madhu was born into a traditional family in Nizam State (Telangana) and evolved into a warrior on the side of laboring and exploited masses. He got himself conscientised and detemined to conscientize the oppressed masses of people. In the process he dedicated himself to the peoples revolutionary movement. His boyhood was one unbearable want and struggle which he as overcome with grit and smiles. By participating in the activities of student and youth inspirited from district communist party leadership, he realised that the exploitative social system was the root cause of poverty. It did not take much time for him from amateured to a matured activist. He resolved to dedicate himself to the task of eradicating the social ills and exploitation.

By becoming a member of Hyderabad city unit of CPI (M) and through the study of Marxist literature Com. Madhu could form a clear vision of the problems of revolutionary movement and the social movements. He carried out crucial responsibilities at the call of the Party. Staying in the backdrop he concentrated his efforts on the literary and cultural movement. As the leader of the team which brought out the magazine JEEVA NAADI, he doubled his efforts in this task. His tireless efforts in the roles of secretary of Hyderabad unit of the Party (1973-76), as member of the State Executive Committee (1974), as member of the Central Committee (1976) and as State Secretary of the Party, while having been close to D.V., are distinguishing and memorable.

While the undesirable happenings that occurred in the party in 1980 were saddening, the way Com. Madhu stood up to them in the true spirit of communism is the proof of his firm commitment. The happenings throw a challenge to the Party. Comrades Anand, Madhu and Viswam stood up to the challenge. They differed with DV on the stand to be adopted with regard to the theoretical problems of international communist movement and other ideological issues. The way Viswam and Madhu immersed themselves after separation in conducting party conferences at various levels of organisation rallying the party to adopt correct theoretical line and strengthening it organisationally, is worth mentioning.

The revolutionary movement found a most worthy comrade in  Com. Madhu. He was inseparable from it. Our later experiences in coordinating our efforts in entering into a dialogue and merger with other parties of different theoretical positions on certain matters with a hope to gain revolutionary friends at national level are worthy of remembrance. In this journey to make the party stronger, the struggles were waged not only with others, but also within our Party. In the course of preparing a document of the review of the conference of 1989 of UCCRI (ML), we could gain great confidence and steadiness in our revolutionary stand. With further changes and additions it could be further strengthened and improved. In this Com. Madhu took it as a challenge and had put in a lot of labour to fulfill the task. That review document stands in testimony of the comradery of  Madhu and me.

Each comrade will have certain unique ability and potential. In pooling them into a group (Dalam) and coordinating all their potentials is a special endeavour. Com. Madhu displayed extraordinary talent in this endeavour keeping himself at the center of the task. His endeavour in this serves as a guiding principle for the upcoming leaders among the cadre.

Com. Madhu has been discharging his duties and responsibilities despite being afflicted with ill health for the last two years. He had undergone cardiac surgery in his youth. That also had some impact on his lungs and would fall fatigue while climbing to high altitudes. In February 2019 his medical friends diagnosed the problem as ILD (Interstitial Lung Disease). Because of this the walls of his pulmonary tissue had got thickened. Only thirty percent of his respiratory capacity was in function. Regular medication and monthly visits to the doctors had become a routine. There also arose a need to keep an oxygen cylinder ready for use. In all, Madhu’s health had turned very fragile. Under these conditions since April 8th he suffered an attack of incessant cough. Doctors said that it is a problem associated with ILD and prescribed drugs. But no improvement was found. The suffering didn’t subside. He was taken to a doctor on the 14th of April. After a CT scan investigation he was admitted into the Hospital. A lot of infection in the lungs was the cause of the problem. He was put on appropriate medication. Yet, there was no relief. When me and my comrades called on him by phone it was clear that he was going through intense suffering. There was nothing more to be done. Com. Madhu himself seems to have realized it. Expect for the physical suffering, his voice did not sound any signs of anxiety. When we assured him of the best available medical treatment to overcome his illness he answered ‘okay’. But, unfortunately the efforts could not succeed. Finally, in the early morning at 4 o’ clock on the 16th of April he succumbed and martyred. Com. Madhu will live forever in our memory and revolutionary practice. I express my revolutionary tributes in the memory of Com. Madhu.

LONG LIVE LENINISM!

By THE EDITORIAL DEPARTMENT OF “HONGQI”   In Commemoration of the 90th Anniversary of the Birth of Lenin Long Live Leninism.pdf
