Peace loving, democratic forces across the world are reverberating support to Palestine

Palestine-Israel :
American imperialists have been plotting to religiously split Palestine prior to 1948. In 1948, the United States proposed and approved a resolution at the United Nations declaring 55 percent of the territory to Israel. The city of Jerusalem was granted special status. Palestine was confined to the Gaza and West Bank territories and walled off to separate the Palestinian people from the outside world.

In 1967 the Golan Heights, the important land of agriculture, was occupied by a six-day war. After the war, Israel became the favorite child of America. But the Palestinian people did not succumb to the imperialist conspiracies. Muslim, Jewish, Christian, and all sorts of religious sectarianism have degraded the self-esteem of the Palestinian people. American imperialism hasn’t clogged there, branded people of Palestine as Muslim terrorists, constantly attacking and terrorizing them. As per Israel’s usual game, on the 12th of this month it bombed the Muslim Brotherhood during the Ramajan celebrations in the Gaza Strip. The pro-American and pro-corporate media in some European countries sang the same old song, calling them Muslim terrorists.

Israel deployed troops along the West Bank border, killing more than two hundred adults and children. It demolished Palestinian offices and hospitals located in high-rise buildings. It attacked the Gaza Strip and attempted to kill more than two lakh Palestinians. The U.S., which supplies bombs and warplanes to Israel, has been obstructing peace between Palestine and Israel.

Peace loving democratic forces around the world condemned and despised this escalation. They extended their support to Palestinian people. The intellectuals of India responded with utmost responsibility. The Indonesian communists, leftists and other democratic organizations reacted very strongly. Similar responses also seen in Arab countries. Democratic forces in Israel have condemned Israeli actions.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan :
The United Nations Security Council met on Sunday, May 16th. Al Jazeera media house wrote that UN could not reach a consensus to cease the violence. China, however, has criticized the Security Council for stalling peace negotiations at every stage. It is reported that Foreign ministers of Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Egypt expressed their dissent to the US Secretary of State. Turkish President Erdogan has strongly condemned the Israeli aggression.

He said , “As long as the people of the world and the nations across the world do not show strong solidarity with the Palestinian cause, the aggression of Israel won’t stop and will continue, impose restrictions on Israel and punish it,”. Human rights groups along with Amnesty International appealed to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate Israel’s attack on high rise towers in the Palestinian territory which constitute Al Jazeera and the Associated Press office. He said this is the culmination of Israel’s brutal attack on journalism. He said Israel’s dreams of not presenting the facts to the people of the world with these attacks would not come true. Israel is attacking and targeting refugee camps and power plants of Palestine.

Palestine prime minister :
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh has called on the world to just not give statements but to take action against Israel. The Prime Minister called on the United Nations to declare Israel’s escalation and attacks on Palestine illegal. The prime minister demanded that the United States immediately suspend the foreign aid to Israel and demanded that the ambassadors of the countries to Israel be withdrawn and terminate trade relations. He called on the world to condemn the human rights abuse and to condemn Israel’s inhumane treatment depriving the innocent children of their glorious future. He called for the immediate revocation of the American renewal license granted to Israel for killing Palestinians. The U.S. has relocated its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem amid criticism of Israel’s permanent structures in the West Bank and Gaza Strip to legalize the occupation of Golan Heights. US stopped funds for education and medical care for Palestine. At the same time, Israel continues to receive $ 300 billion a year in funding from US. The U.S. has been using Israel and creating civil wars and combats in the Middle East and maintaining its authority over crude oil, established a naval base in Bahrain, waging wars on Yemen, Iran and Syria for transportation of crude oil in the Suez Gulf Sea. He appealed to the nations across the world to unleash Israeli aggression, which has so far occupied at least 90 percent of Palestinian territory with the backing of imperialist America and caused deaths of millions of Palestinians and displacement of tens of millions of Palestinians.

In front of the US embassy in Indonesia :
Pro-Palestinian protesters protest in front of the U.S. embassy in the Indonesian capital, demanding an end to Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip. Hundreds of Indonesians carried Indonesian and Palestinian flags and marched on main streets in Jakarta under the slogan “Palestinian Freedom” as more than 1,000 police tried to stop the protest. Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim majority country, has no official diplomatic relations with Israel and does not even have an Israeli embassy. The protest was led by the United Indonesia, Muslim student action group, chanting “Freedom for Palestine”. Placards were carried in protest of the airstrikes in Gaza. They condemned US support for Israel. Another group organized by the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions held a rally a few hundred meters from the US embassy. They chanted slogans “Save the Palestinians”. Muslim-majority countries in Southeast Asia have called for an urgent meeting to ensure the safety and security of their citizens. The airstrikes killed at least 212 Palestinians in a week. Of these, 61 were children and 36 were women. More than 1,400 people were injured, the Gaza health ministry said.

Indian intellectuals’ statement :
The statement of eleven intellectuals collective who aspire harmony, aspire a democratic system in the country and who are striving for human values is welcome.

    1) Aijaz Ahmed, 2) Arundhati Roy, 3) GithaHariharan, 4) Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami, 5) Naseeruddin Shah, 6) Nayantara Sehgal, 7) Prabhat Patnaik 8) Ratnapathak 9) Subhashini Ali, 10) Sudhanve Deshpande, 11) Vijaya Prasad, Scholars from various fields extended their solidarity and said “We stand with Palestine”

“Palestinians in Gaza fired rockets at Israel. The rockets did not start or define the brutality that followed. The rockets came as part of a resistance — backed by international law — of an illegal occupation”. The collective emphasized they stand with the Palestinians, stand with the right to a homeland, their right to return to their home, and their right to resist the occupation.

General Strike in Palestine - Global Workers’ Solidarity :
Palestinian women chanted slogans against Israel in the West Bank city of Ramallah; Ten thousand have joined the strike in protest of the bombing of Gaza. The trade unions, the postal union, and the global trade union took part in anti-Israel demonstrations. Decades later, Palestinians living in Israel opened up against Israel aggression, supporting the decision to impose restrictions and punish the Israeli government.

    Many countries and people across nations have expressed Palestinian resistance as just in the face of Israel’s inhumane war on Palestine;

On May 10 solidarity protest and rally was organized in New York City. Declarations and mobilisations carried out by organisations from Ireland to Iraq in support of Palestine. They declared that the demonstrations would continue until Saturday, when Palestinians commemorate Naqba (Catastrophe) Day.

Normalcy between Palestine and Israel :
Many countries in the Arab-Maghreb region, Morocco, UAE, Bahrain and Sudan, want to exchange normalcy in financial issues. Efforts were made to achieve this through aggressive American lobbying. These efforts hampered the strengthening of US-Israeli ties. Recently a number of organizations have staged demonstrations condemning the Zionist criminal actions of Israel and were in support of the Palestinian people in the region. These protests have been very influential. On May 11, the Left parties made an important statement.

In the statement, they expressed their support to the Palestinian people and condemned the US Zionist “deal of the century” which has attempted to advance the full occupation of Jerusalem with support of many Arab countries.

They call on to support the legitimate resistance of the Palestinian people and reject Zionist policies of “ethnic cleansing, home demolitions, land theft and sacrilege.” They also call on to confront the recent shifts of normalisation and complicity of the Arab reactionary governments and their interference in Palestinian affairs in favor of the occupation.”

In addition to this statement, many organizations took to the streets to show their support.

Demonstrations took place in Moroccan cities (Casablanca, Rabat, Tangiers) in defiance of the reactionary government.

In Tunisia, the Workers’ Party, along with other progressive forces, condemned Israel and staged demonstrations in support of Palestine.

In Kuwait, people and progressive forces came on to the streets. In Sudan, people protested in solidarity to Palestine.

Latin American peoples movements, organisations and revolutionary governments condemned the attacks
The Landless Rural Workers’ Movement (MST) of Brazil released a statement on May 11th wherein they pointed out that “It is not a war, as there is only one army, that of Israel! It is a massacre, which has been perpetrated against the Palestinian people for more than 70 years!” The movement called for an end to “Israel’s extermination policy” and demanded that Israel be tried for crimes against humanity. The MST express solidarity “with the Palestinian People’s struggle for a Free Palestine, with Jerusalem as its capital!”

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez has strongly condemned Israel for its indiscriminate bombings on the Palestinian people. He condemned the permanent support of US in these crimes. The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry reiterated that they stand with the Palestinian people for their sovereignty, independence and self-determination. Following the cruel attacks by Israel demanded an end to this new isolation and new phase of Zionist violence on Palestinian people.

Socialist Cuba and Venezuela have provided concrete support to the Palestinian cause and people, opening their doors to hundreds of Palestinian students so that they can train in medicine and return to the region to help serve the people.

The Dwellers Movement of South Africa in Africa said, “The blood of the Palestinians is our blood, and their pain is our pain. We have experience of colonial dispossession and oppression – and of apartheid and understand the suffering and struggle of the Palestinian people. Our past makes us understand our present as a teacher”. The Socialist Revolutionary Workers Party and the Communist Party of Kenya expressed their solidarity. Protests were held in Johannesburg in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Demonstrations in solidarity with the Palestinians in the United States show that despite American politicians’ support for Israel’s atrocities, this will not last long. Massive protests took place on May 11th in several American cities, including New York, Washington DC, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Significant News organizations have strongly criticized the United States for not only providing billions of dollars in military aid to Israel, but also its unwavering political support and continuing pro-Israel atrocities against the Palestinians.

Organizations such as the European Left Party, Ireland’s Sinn Fein and Progressive Movements have condemned Israel’s attacks on the Palestinian people in Gaza across Europe.

Port workers in Livorno, Italy, refused to ship cargo to Israel on ships which they thought could be carrying weapons.

Solidarity from Sports Persons :
Sports persons from Italy, Germany and players from Ireland, players from soccer fields Pogba, his teammates and Bangladeshi cricketer Mustafizur and others have all extended their support and appealed for solidarity for Palestine.
