Present day crisis created by govt’s failure to tackle Corona menace

The entire country is devastated due to govt’s failure to anticipate and take Remedial measures to tackle 2nd wave of Covid19 pandemic. More than lakh people have died, many millions are infected, and there are not required no. of hospital beds, oxygen, ventilators, PPE kits, medicines, etc. People are running from pillars to post for saving their lives from the deadly disease. Black-marketing of oxygen and medicines are rampant. In Delhi, oxygen cylinders are reported to have been sold at lakh rupees. Ambulances are charging huge money as per the situation. Private hospitals have been charging lakhs of rupees from the patents/attendants. But millions are forced to tackle the problem themselves in their residents. In villages there is hardly any qualified medical facilities forcing people to depend on quacks. In such a situation holding of Kumbh mela in Haridwar and holding 8 phase Election in Bengal wrecked havoc. Hundreds of dead bodies have been found in rivers Ganga and Yamuna. Large no. of dead bodies have been buried in sand at river beds.

The govt. is suffering from policy paralysis. Modi Govt. allowed export of millions of doses of vaccines to foreign countries. It has resulted in shortage of vaccines in our country. The Union Govt. had forbidden import of vaccines from abroad. All this has resulted in the present helpless situation in the country.

Large no. of people have lost their jobs. No monetary support has been provided to them. Common people are facing great economic and financial crisis. The govt. has turned a blind eye to them.

This has shown clearly that Modi led govt. at the centre is thoroughly incompetent and pro rich. The govt has handed over national assets like banks, railways, airports, mines, etc to private business houses.

This crisis has also exposed the hollowness of much touted Ayushman Yojana of Mr.Modi. Only 12 crore rupees have been spent from this scheme till now. Private hospitals are looting and fleecing people mercilessly.

The Covid-19 crisis has shown clearly that privatisation and commercialisation of health care services are totally failure and anti-people for a country like India. So, health care responsibility should be of the state, not private not private blood suckers.

In such a situation our party CPI (ML) demands:-

  1. The govt should make adequate arrangement for treatment of all Covid patients.
  2. Govt. should arrange free vaccination to all.
  3. Govt. should make suitable planning for construction of hospitals at all levels so that health care facilities may be available to everyone in the country.
  4. Arrange sufficient oxygen, ventilators, medicines and beds available to all needy persons.
  5. Take all private hospitals in govt’s hands and make arrangement for people’s treatment affordable.
  6. Provide all poor families Rs.10000 and start community kitchen to provide the needy persons free meals.
